Strawberry Fields

New face, New Skin
Old love, Nevermind
Feeling the same,
Feeling a different kind

Miles of Strawberry fields
Lucy with diamonds in the sky
Trying hard not to feel,
doesn't weaken my desire

Cold Chains, don't break
Hard rain, I don't mind
Surfing the wake,
Doesn't get me high

Miles of strawberry fields
Lucy with diamonds in the sky
Madman point to the hills,
Telling me that i gotta
fly on by
fly on by

Dissecting Strawberry Fields

New face, New Skin
Old love, Nevermind

The physical attributes seem totally
unfamiliar, yet the innate affection
is one that had always been present.
1) Another person that brings out the
same emotions? or
2) Same lover, but the distance kept had
resulted in a form of alienation?

Feeling the same,
Feeling, a different kind

Feels the same, yet feels different somehow
First "feeling" a verb, second a noun.

Miles of Strawberry fields
Lucy with diamonds in the sky

A manifestation of my bitter jealousy of a friend
who had the oppurtunity to visit the garden of which
John Lennon's song entitled "Strawberry Fields Forever"
was based on.
The second line is just a follow up to the beatles reference
with a play on "Lucy in the sky with diamonds". A track off
Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band which i bought back

in my army days and listened to it in camp where i shared a
personal room with my buddy Faizal. I was totally blown
away by the track "She's Leaving Home" then. It's
unfathomable how transcending melodies of such magnificence
can be conceived.

Trying hard not to feel,
doesn't weaken my desire

The eternal conflict between one's mind and one's heart

Cold Chains, don't break
Hard rain, I don't mind
Surfing the wake,
Doesn't get me high

The feeling of the cold hard metal that are the shackles.
Braving the weather to seek an escape, however, the
experience is inadequate to mask the sorrow.
At the time when i wrote this verse, i was on a speedboat
on one of my first few wakeboarding sessions. The rain was
beating down on me. It was awfully cold.

Miles of strawberry fields
Lucy with diamonds in the sky
Madman point to the hills,
Telling me that i gotta
fly on by
fly on by

Taking advice from a person that the public views as
mental. He preaches the need to let things go and move on.

Sometimes the one that is not blinded by human paranoia
sees it more clearly.
